She:
I knew it when I held his hand
I felt it when I leaned over to kiss him
I know, I’m not naïve
There’s someone else, there is
He clutched on to me
But I know it was bogus
He tried to articulate love to me
But it was a lie—very obvious
So much for my perfect romance
Something I envisioned all my life
Looks like reality just knocked the sense out of me
Imaginary legend of an immortal daydream
He knew it’d break me apart
All his kisses were all but simulations of our used-to-be’s
He knows I deserve more than this
There’s someone else, there is
He:
I touched her and then felt guilt
I kissed her back; an innocent mimicry
I think she knows about the other
There’s someone else, there is
Whenever we’re together it’s just so bland
It will never be the same—that’s a fact
Maybe I’ve outgrown this relationship of ours
Yes, I’m lying to her but it’s something I never wanted
When I’m with another I feel so free
It’s a remorseful act I’m now comfortable with
I know it’s wrong yet it feels so damn right
But it’s so hard to break free from her grasp
I know it would obliterate her grounds
But I can’t go on pretending
She deserves more than all these
There’s someone else, there is
The other woman:
I saw it when he held her hand
I watched them but I wanted to die
Does she know about me?
There’s someone else, that’s me
She clung to him—tightly, securely
He was endearing and caring too
Though I knew he was faking
Inside, I was deeply hurting
How does he feel when they’re together?
I know he’s a man I share with another
I know it’s a lapse on my morality
But I intend to snatch him—away, if I may say
It’s a decision between my heart and my mind
But I can’t prolong this selfish act
I deserve more than this—a man of my own
There’s someone else, and I regret that it’s me
He was walking out of the train door when he came to a stop.
She was trying to make her way through the swarm of people at that time.
There was something about her.
Her hair, her style, her built—all is familiar to him.
She shook her head when she dropped her tote.
He should help but no, he won’t.
He was too scared, too damn scared.
She was too beautiful, too far away.
An old man helped her and then she smiled.
Oh that smile—Alas! He recalls her.
“Thy fingers were but mere perfection
How thou flip thy hair brings about madness
When thou speak my knees turn liquid
Every glimpse of thy smile takes my breath away”
He went to work distracted that day.
He was completely out of his norm as his thoughts journeyed every now and then.
He didn’t eat lunch for he forgot.
In front of his screen, he googled her name.
Oh, what a fool she’s made of him.
Now he craves for the sight of her.
“You’re still my idea of a perfect girl.
I wonder how you’ve been.
Would you still remember me?
Some guy you knew back then.”
He was on that train again.
Restless—he was turning his head every now and then.
Ouch!
It was a girl.
Out of his agitation he had hit someone.
He quickly turned around and when he was about to utter a word, his eyes widened.
She was there.
That was her.
Oh my, I think I know you.
Then she smiled—yes, that smile.
He was stunned, completely.
Standing there, he tried to go over his memories of her.
No, not a word he can say.
How are you?
You look great.
Now he’s back on track.
After that he finally said something back.
She seemed thrilled to see him again.
This brought him back to wonderland—where he spent most of that day.
Now the train reached the last station.
He asked her if she wants to eat dinner.
Then she smiled.
If her smile could kill, he’d be crushed by now.
They ate dinner at a fast-food chain.
No fancy restaurants yet, besides it’s getting late.
He clearly remembered how much she loved those fries then.
As expected, she bought those fries again.
At that moment, he smiled.
You still have that smile I like.
That statement made his heart pound lightning fast.
She giggled after saying that.
That giggle blew fireworks in his eyes.
Ah, she’s in his life again.
He thought, as an old song goes “maybe now they can be more than just friends”.
Now the time has come to bid goodbye.
He watched as she walked towards her porch.
Suddenly she stood still then turned around.
He was panicking inside. Now what?
Can I see you again?
That question turned his knees from jelly to fumes.
If he could faint, he would.
Dinner perhaps? Next time, it’ll be my treat.
No, don’t flash that smile once more or else he’ll die.
But to no avail, she smiled anyway.
“Maybe all my dreams are finally turning real.
Thou look so much within my grasp now.
` The view of thy smile brings me to life.
Thou makes me happy, makes me feel drugged.”
She started walking towards him.
She brushed her lips on his.
Then let out another giggle.
Her giggles sound so sweet yet not naïve.
I lost count of how many times he almost died while with her.
Since then, they would always go out.
Ate dinner, danced and got drunk together.
I’ve always liked you.
She was wasted but she wasn’t lying, I suppose.
He felt the same, no; he felt more than just that.
No words would be enough to explain how intense his feelings were.
No verses could ever articulate how pristine his intentions were.
She kissed him.
He kissed her back.
She wasn’t going to lose this game; she kissed him even more passionately.
“Tingling sensations flush all throughout of me
Impulses shoot from nowhere to nowhere
Psychotic images flash from blink to blink
Hormones fluctuate from here to there”
They met.
Then it was all over.
“The fever has passed as we’re both in sweats
When spasms are overcome and dealt with
Muscles relaxed and desires satisfied
Slumber as you enter into the warmth of my sheets”
There they were.
On his bed, in his heart—there she is; there she’ll always be.
I’m finally his.
He’s finally mine.
She told him not to fall for her.
He promised her he won’t.
She believed him when he swore to her.
He wasn’t really sure if he could deliver.
She was always very outgoing.
She couldn’t even care less.
He was always very contemplative.
He was never caught by surprise.
She would be all over the place.
He would be just in a corner.
She would be out all night.
He would be up in his room and be sleeping at nine.
She would always flash a smile.
He would always be just passing you by.
Everybody knew who she is.
Nobody knew about him.
They spent time together.
She loved how straight-forward he is.
He loved how she laughed at his jokes.
They were happy together.
She loves him but she never tells.
He loves her but he’s keeping his promise instead.
She thought she had made a full-proof plan.
He thought she failed—big time.
For now, he’s in love with her.
As for her, she loves him even more.
She loves him enough for her to hurt inside.
She’s never meant to last—almost gone, almost gone.
Every time she was out, he’d think she was drunk.
High she maybe of drugs but it was for medication—her case was terminal.
Every night she’d pray for her to wake up.
Every night she’d wish for her life to last a day longer.
If only he knew, if only he knew.
They were supposed to meet up at eight.
On the phone, she said: I need to tell you something.
His sweat glands became a lot more active.
On the way, he picked up flowers.
He knew it was time that he told her.
I love you—he planned to tell her.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t wait any longer.”
It was eight-thirty then.
She was never late for a date.
Then came nine o’clock, he was starting to lose it.
An ambulance was approaching, he was all edgy.
A middle-aged woman dressed in white came out.
“She wanted to see you. Check on her.”
His hands went cold and his heart pumped faster.
She was in so much pain and it was only him that could calm her.
He entered the room and then he saw her.
She was trying to smile although she wanted pain-killers.
His jaw dropped in shock then she said: Hello.
He ran to her, held her tight and wanted to cry.
She stopped the tears from falling.
“I’m sorry for not coming…”
“Hush. Go to sleep. I’ll be here when you wake up.”
He did not even shut his eyes.
She kissed him good night.
He whispered: I’m sorry.
“You broke your promise?” she replied.
“I know and don’t worry, it’s alright.”
I love you.
I love you too.
Morning came and he was waiting for her to wake up.
It was a quarter past ten but her eyes were still shut.
He felt her hands growing cold.
He held on tighter—he was not letting go.
He leaned over to plant a kiss on her lips.
He felt her cool dry lips—he wanted to scream.
She’s gone. It’s over.
She’s gone. She’s dead—DEAD.
He was hurting too much now.
He never should’ve kept his promise.
He should’ve told her earlier—much, much earlier.
Now she’s gone and now there will be no more time for reruns.
Goodbye, love.
I was about to go after you.
But I know you wouldn’t have wanted me to.
Until then, love, I hope to see you once more.
Cancer—you shouldn’t have picked her.

There are just too much questions I would love to ask.
How do you make me smile when I feel so down?
How do you bring out a laugh when all I can do is frown?
How do you just strip me off of my emotional mask?
You have a way of talking me through stuff.
Why do you always hold my hand when I’m in doubt?
Why do you raise me up when I’m all down and out?
Why do you make me feel that for you, I’m more than enough?
You see, I don’t get you.
What is it about you that make me feel okay?
What is it about everything that you say?
What is it about us that make this seem true?
Tell me why you do all these.
How do you brighten up my day with just a wink?
How do you communicate with me using just a single link?
How do you scramble all my systems with just one kiss?
Oh, don’t stare impishly at me.
Why do you cause me to stutter whenever you’re around?
Why do you make me blush at the thought that we’re bound?
Why do you make me happy unintentionally?
You make me want to make love to you forever.
What is it about you that make me feel secure?
What is it about me that just got you lured?
What is it about us that make it feel so good?
